My massage style encompasses a wide range of techniques, blended in a flowing experience. I combine Swedish and Myofascial work with point-specific deep tissue and the broad strokes of Hawaiian Lomi Lomi in a synergy of skills and intent. My knowledge of energy, and anatomy assists me to be aware, precise and direct in my work. In November 2007, after 9 years living in Asheville, NC, I moved to Portland, Oregon! I have been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2002. I received my BS in Physical Therapy at the University of New England in Maine, and massage training at the Center for Massage in Asheville, NC.

Gavin Bowes:

Consciousness Counseling is my means of guiding others into the same genuine transformation that I have experienced - from a life of weight and effort to one of of peace, self-awareness and freedom. This simple, powerful work does not attempt to resolve particular emotional/psychological issues, but to resolve the relationship with life itself by deeply awakening the conscious self. This awakening leads to all other resolution and healing, because of the conscious self's inherent state of peace and capacity to create and love beyond measure. However lofty that may sound, it is simpler and more possible than you can imagine. The work is very practical, based on two principles: 1) Unconditional peace is available in this moment. 2) Your experience of life is created by you, in this moment.

I feel such joy in offering this incredible work. There is no cost for the first meeting. You can set it up by contacting me directly at 503.321.5065 or  gavin@consciousness-counseling.org

Morgan Brent, PhD:

I offer sessions in the healing art of Vocal Vitality. This is an organic approach to improving your speaking and singing voice based on the principles behind naturalistic medicine (e.g. ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine), and timeless shamanic techniques. A session initially emphasizes breathing, toning, and getting you comfortable with whole-body sounding. We then use vocalized visualizations (vocalization + visualization = manifestation) to help awaken your 'Creation-body', the living earth within each of us. An activated Creation-body' inspires us with purpose, strength and an authentic voice. Once that voice begins to reveal itself, I can offer a multicultural selection of mantras, chants, healing prayers, and songs of spirit to help give it form and direction. The ultimate goal is to apply this voice to setting new vibrational patterns that call in positive life changes. And to have fun! For more information visit www.tribesofcreation.com.

I am a licensed massage therapist with over 14 years experience. I engage diverse massage techniques, specifically tailored to each individual. Drawing from a background in deep tissue, medical and orthopedic massage I achieve results in pain relief, increased mobility and deep relaxation. Specific techniques include Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Soft Tissue Release, Pre-Natal Massage and Integrated Stretching. These are powerful injury treatment and relaxation techniques that combine deep tissue massage with active and passive stretching. This integrated approach relieves chronic pain and muscle tension, restoring the body's natural function.

Sarananda Castle, LMT#7612

Swedish, Deep Tissue, Pregnancy Massage, Chakra Balancing & Raindrop Therapy

Licensed in Oregon since 2001, Sarananda tailors each session to the needs of her clients using intuitive touch and integrative techniques. Her practice includes Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage along with energy work and therapeutic grade essential oils, if desired. She is a trained Reiki practitioner who also offers Chakra Balancing sessions, Pregnancy Massage as well as Raindrop Therapy.

Pregnancy Massage: Many Moms-to-be have enjoyed the benefits of having her massage on a Body Cushion that allows her to feel relaxed and supported while face down even into the the 9th month of pregnancy.

Raindrop Therapy is a safe, non-invasive massage modality created by Gary Young, ND that combines gentle massage strokes influenced by Lakota energy medicine and a series of therapeutic grade essential oils dropped like rain along the spine. The treatment is based on the theory that viruses and bacteria lie dormant along the spine causing inflammation and contributing to muscle tension, chronic back pain, spinal curvature and less than optimum health and vitality. By introducing pure, extremely high quality therapeutic grade oils directly to the body that are absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream, relief from pain, muscle tension and toxicity in the body may be achieved.

The oils used have been extensively studied for their highly antibacterial, antimicrobial and antiviral properties –this particular technique uses thyme, oregano, marjoram, basil, wintergreen, cypress, peppermint and a couple of Young Living proprietary blends. Not only are essential oils chemically complex, volatile substances that affect the physical body but, because they are the distilled, concentrated life essence of a plant, they also have very high frequencies that work synergistically with one's energetic and emotional systems making this treatment truly holistic.

The method of application for this therapy is based on the French model of essential oil use which indicates direct application to the skin where they are absorbed into the bloodstream. The oil molecules also enter the body though the sense of smell. For those with very sensitive skin a small amount of organic vegetable oil is used to dilute the essential oils. Raindrop Therapy also includes a warm compress applied to the back to help facilitate the absorption of the oils and to relax the muscles.

The treatment as a whole focuses on the neck, back and the spinal reflex points on the feet. Although the treatment generally lasts about an hour, the oils continue to work in the body for up to a week. Most people leave feeling deeply relaxed and with increased vitality. Because of its potential detoxifying properties, proper hydration, before and after, is very important to the success of this treatment.
