Lantern Healing Arts
--------------------------
I offer primary care and naturopathic consultation at Common Ground Wellness Center, as well as holistic bodywork.
For 18 years, I have offered naturopathic primary care at community clinics in Oregon, and I continue to do so. I have a broad base of experience with every aspect of primary care and am happy to help you with health problems in every part of your body and mind. 2026 will be my 19th year in practice.
I am returning to private practice at Common Ground as I want to be able to offer longer sessions and to be able to use all the many tools in my toolbox. I especially love working with herbal medicine. (I studied at three herbal schools prior to attending naturopathic school, including with Michael Moore of Southwest School of Botanical Medicine and Karyn Sanders of Blue Otter School of Herbal Medicine.) I am happy to custom formulate herbal blends just for your needs.
My other favorite tool is bodywork. I offer bodywork for wellness, pain relief and trauma healing. I am a student of the Trager Approach, which uses gentle but deep rhythmic rocking and stretching to dissolve stuck body patterns, both physical and mental, without pain, to allow greater freedom of movement, while always respecting your body’s boundaries.
I can gladly help you with nutritional consultations for your concerns. I use clinical nutrition in a non-dogmatic, non-judgmental, open-minded way to support your own goals.
I’m also very well versed in pharmaceutical prescription and am happy to consult you about these medications. I can often take over prescriptions for you as needed if you choose me as your primary care provider, or prescribe them as your consulting naturopathic specialist if you prefer. With a career in community health, I’ve probably prescribed more pharmaceuticals than 99% of NDs whose path you will ever cross. These are often useful tools in the toolbox too! Many times I can help you come off of these medications, or help you figure out if they are truly serving you or if there is a safer natural option - or stay with them if they are the right tool for you right now.
My aim is to integrate the naturopathic principles of:
~First, do no harm
~The healing power of nature
~ Treat the whole person
~ Identify and treat the cause
~ Doctor as teacher
in order to guide you in caring for yourself in the way you wish to do so.
Your path is your own—my job is to shine the lantern to help you find your path and walk it with more ease.
I began my healthcare career as an herbalist and a community health worker and peer counselor at the Berkeley Free Clinic. I became a naturopathic doctor in order to make natural medicine accessible to all people. My first practice after graduating naturopathic school was in Nicaragua at a public hospital in a remote underserved area. Throughout my career I have been involved with Integrative Medicine for the Underserved.
I believe healthcare is a basic human right.
Se habla Espanol: I am a fluent Spanish speaker and certified as a bilingual doctor. I am happy to provide all services 100% in Spanish for you if that is your preferred language. I can review your records in Spanish as well.
Insurance coverage is coming soon, but is not here just yet. I will publish here when I am covered and by whom.
